Opera Bridge and the river landscape
Inspired by the curved lines of historic Chinese architecture, Opera Bridge turns a river crossing into a place for looking outward toward the landscape and sky. Two folded surfaces, one rising and the other bending toward the ground, define both the bridge’s structure and sheltered places to pause. A gently sloped main deck leads from either bank toward the center. Along its concave edges, visitors can sit or stand under the curve, while the accessible central rise offers different positions for leaning, resting and viewing the river. The bridge becomes a small public destination as well as a connection across the water.
